Hi! I’m Cassie. Welcome to my little corner of the internet where I share about all things family photography. I recently had the pleasure of designing and creating a styled picnic photoshoot, and I’m DYING to share about the experience. So here goes…

A couple weeks ago I was eating lunch at Chick fil’ A…

and a couple tables down was this beautiful Mom and her adorable daughter. Just before they left I gathered the courage to ask if they’d be interested in “modeling” for me (and assured her I wasn’t a creeper, ha!) We exchanged info and I began planning this styled shoot.

After creating a vision board on Pinterest, I went to Goodwill to see what I could find. I honestly wasn’t super optimistic because thrifting can be so hit and miss. BUT to my amazement I found everything I needed – including a class style picnic basket, gah!

As much as I love a gorgeous flowey dress and an epic romantic location, I wanted to showcase how accessible it can be to have an absolutely stunning family session – right here in our own backyard. These photos were taken at Discovery Park in the Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle and the family wore casual clothes that were comfortable to play in. There was very little prompting from me, as I wanted to capture genuine connection and sweet moments between them as they enjoyed the picnic and playing with their daughter. To say we pulled off my dream session is an understatement. It was my “ideal” scenario is every sense and I can’t wait to share so of my favorite moments with you.

So without further ado, here are some of my favorite shots from this dreamy session!

I hope this inspires you to pack your family a picnic, and invite me to document it.

As you can see, a simple picnic at Discovery Park is all you need for gorgeous, authentic family photos. You don’t have to travel for an epic location or spend hundred of dollars buying new outfits for the whole family. Just spend time together, eat some strawberries, tickle your kids! And I’ll capture it for you! I’ll bring the picnic basket, you bring the food. Deal?

Email me today to start planning the family photo session of your dreams! They will only be little once.
